Ceramic Studio
Make something with your hands.
A space to create, learn and spend time with clay — whether it’s your first time or you already know your way around a wheel.

Good things start with a lump of clay.
Surya Temple is a ceramic studio where you can come to play, learn, make, remake, experiment and create — whether it’s your very first cup or a piece you’ve been dreaming of for months. Find your style, grow your skills and see how far clay can take you.
No experience. No pressure. Just clay, creativity and a little beautiful mess.

From Clay to Finished Piece
Good ceramics take their time. (And yes, your cup has to stay with us for a while.)
- 1.
Make it.
You shape it, build it, love it — and then leave it with us. The hardest part begins: waiting.
- 2.
Let it dry.
Clay doesn’t like to be rushed. Your piece needs to dry slowly and completely before its first firing. Depending on the season, temperature and the piece itself, this can take up to a week.
- 3.
First fire.
Once completely dry, your piece goes into the kiln for its first firing. Now it’s officially ceramic — but not quite finished yet.
- 4.
Glaze it.
If your workshop includes glazing, you’ll come back for a second visit to choose your colours and glaze your piece. Another little transformation — and back into the kiln it goes.
- 5.
Fire again. Then take it home.
After the second firing and cooling, it’s finally ready. From glazing to collection, allow a few more days.
- Made & painted in one session?
- Some workshops let you make and decorate your piece on the same day. In that case, there’s no second visit and the whole process is usually faster — around 4–7 days, depending on the season and firing schedule.
- So, can I take my cup home today?
- Not quite. Clay has its own timetable — and it’s worth the wait.
Made at Surya Temple
We don’t just teach it. We make it too.
Somewhere between the classes, the cups and the beautiful mess, we create our own ceramics too. Small batches, one-of-a-kind pieces and things we simply couldn’t resist making — all designed and made right here at Surya Temple.
No pieces in that combination right now. Stock follows the kiln and the shelf refills every fortnight, so widen the price range or look at what is made to order.
